If you have not already, make sure and check out the first video blog that I made in this series entitled, “Psalm 23:1-3 The Good Shepherd”.
When my dad told me that he had lymphoma I was floored. Cancer is not a good word in our family and I have seen too many family members die of this horrible disease. So to hear him say that he had something that had taken the lives of so many members of our family scared me to death.
It felt as though we were the only people on the planet walking through this valley and that nobody would understand what we were going through until….we showed up at M.D. Anderson for the first time. Wow! You talk about God bringing me back down to earth and reality hitting me in the head like a rock.
I witnessed a child who didn’t have a nose because it had been eaten away with cancer. I saw people with all sorts of missing body parts, eyeballs, ears, etc. Then we started meeting people who had flown across country just to come to this magnificent place where everybody could relate to what we were walking through.
After leaving M.D. Anderson my perspective changed and I realized that we were actually very blessed. My dad has since beaten cancer and it shouldn’t return. Unfortunately, though, not everybody has the same outcome as my dad.
Maybe this is what you are dealing with – the sickness or loss of a loved one, an addiction, a family member who is dealing with addiction, financial woes, job loss, and the list goes on and on. Our world is hurting.
I hope this video brings you encouragement and I hope that you can see that even nobody else understands…God does. He knows exactly what you’re going through and He loves you. He wants to help you if you will only accept what He is offering.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
