It looks like such a harmless 4-letter word, but it is powerful. If you have ever been in the place of fear then you can relate to this story. Fear is crippling, paralyzing, and down-right depressing. Fear is not knowing what you’re going to feed your children for lunch tomorrow, or wondering if you can pay your mortgage, or figuring out a way to make every dollar stretch until the next payday.
“…FOR I AM YOUR GOD”
Even when I felt nobody else cared or knew what we were going through, God was there. I know this sounds so cliche, but when I was down the only place to look was up. So, I did. I have cried out to Him many times concerning my fears. Nobody else knew what was happening inside of me, except God. When I was at work, I smiled. When I was at church, I smiled. When I was with God, He knew that I was not smiling on the inside and He assured me every time that He was my God and He could take care of any problem that we faced.
“…I WILL HELP YOU, STRENGTHEN YOU, AND UPHOLD YOU”
God wants to help His children. God never placed me in the depths of my financial woes. He was not involved in our decision of spending $400 a month on a car payment. He did not tell me to spend our entire tax income on new furniture instead of saving it. Even though I made all of those stupid decisions, I am thankful to have a God that does not deem me “stupid”. I am His kid and He loves me so very much. He wants to be there to pick me up after I fall. He is there to help me face my fears.
My hope for you throughout these devotionals, is that you will learn to have a heart that is fearless. Bookmark this verse so that you will never forget what God will do for you when facing fear.
